Krims & Krams kirppis München

Innsbrück and Munich flea markets

Vintagetall's autumn trip focused on Austria and Germany. It also included a day trip to Northern Italy. Our trip was made even more special by the fact that we were given a GoPro camera to film our adventures. We'll be back!

The shopping trip coincided with a familiar time for us, the international break of the ice hockey leagues. The main destinations of the trip plan were the flea market at the Tivoli Stadium in Innsbrück and the Midnight Bazar and Krims & Krams events in Munich. In addition, all the possible antique and vintage shops that we would come across along the way.

Tivoli Stadium, Austria

Austria was familiar, having played there for one season in Graz. My hopes of finding the goods were cautious, but flea markets in Central Europe are always promising.

Saturday morning at 7:00 to Tivoli Stadium and the radar turned on. At the first flea market, there were also sellers of old goods and the goods were also sent to Finland. Among other things, a bunch of popular pharmacy enamel signs and a leather weekend bag were sent to the stable.

Just before the bus left for Germany, I happened to find a small vintage market, where a quick tour resulted in a wonderful tray.
It's a shame that we missed this event. Even though we thought we had used all the English and German search terms (flohmarkt, second hand, bazar, antique, vintage market, trödelmarkt...), this one hadn't caught our eye. Be careful!

Midnight Bazaar, Munich

On Saturday evening, head to Munich to your hotel and from there directly to Midnight Bazar . The event is held on weekends at various locations around the city. Food trucks outside and antiques and vintage clothing inside, live music and an open bar. Amazing concept! The crowd came here not only to sell and buy, but also to have fun. They brought along a great cooler.

Krims & Krams, Munich

On Sunday, Munich's only vintage event, Krims&Krams, was held at the old "train depot" called Bahnwärtel Thiel . Disused train carriages and containers were assembled into this cultural center to create unique retail spaces, restaurants, cafes and bars. All the furnishings were made from recycled materials.

The vendors were the same faces as the previous evening/night at the bazaar. The tour here also yielded some finds. Finally, we stopped for lunch at a Mexican restaurant made into a restaurant wagon.

It's impossible to describe the place in words, you have to see it for yourself!

It was acceptable that the best flea market day in Munich would have been Saturday, but the extended weekend sets certain limits. We took a lot of wonderful items, but more could have been included. The events that coincided with the time were more clothing-oriented, while our main focus is on vintage interior products.

However, the atmosphere of Midnightbazar and Krims & Krams was impressive in concept and milieu! In addition, the way clothing, hat and sunglasses stores in Central European cities decorated their premises was once again impressive. A truly inspiring trip!
