Hidden gem, insane treasure trove, Collector's heaven, wonderful vintage boutique, great second hand shop... These are the words you have used to describe our stable.
Where did the idea for pop-ups come from? We wanted to stick to where it all started, the home flea in our sympathetic stable in Helsinki, Kallio. Nowadays, the stable serves as a warehouse for our online store, where we hold pop-up days in the summer. Those days have brought a happy change to trading. In addition to shopping online and on Instagram, it's refreshing to shop in a physical "store" sometimes. In addition, it is nice to meet you customers "behind the name tags" also face to face.
The old objects and the beautiful stable continue to arouse the interest of customers and passers-by every time. We want to keep that authentic atmosphere of Vintagetall as part of our story and offer that experience to as many of you as possible. One must not forget one's roots, and our Vintage shop's roots are precisely on Franzeninkatu and in stable no. 5!
What is the history of the stables? The stables on Franzeninkatu were built as garages in 1926, when cars were still rare in the working-class district. Other uses were found for the stables, as horse stables and coal and wood storage. The story also tells about a sales bazaar, in front of which the Jewish priests were sitting. Interesting and the listener is responsible for this. Later, the stables have also served as a film milieu in the film Where We Went Once. When our doors have been open, it has awakened many who have lived in Kallio for decades to remember the old days and tell stories and history about the stables. I hope we will be able to continue that interesting history.
We are often asked when Vintagetalli is open and if it is possible to pick up the products. We keep our doors open in the summer in a pop-up spirit, and there are no regular opening hours. Our event was recently accepted among the MyHelsinki website's choose more responsibly events, and announcements about our events will continue to be found on the MyHelsinki website . We also advertise pop-up events on our Instagram . You can get into the mood of last summer's pop-ups here .
During the fall and winter, our work situation is such that it is difficult to arrange pickups. That's why we currently deliver purchases by mail.
Oh, and those formula drivers. They are Nigel Mansell and Riccardo Patrese. When we rented the space, we were allowed all other changes, but the figures of Mansell and Patrese, who had been in the window for ages, absolutely had to remain in place, because "otherwise the whole Rock will shake." Those characters became a good landmark for us, from which you can recognize which team to join.
Although this summer's pop-ups have been held, there is no need to worry. We will continue them next spring and summer as usual. The search for products has continued in the Czech Republic this week as well. We always announce new products for sale in our newsletter, which you can order from the front page.
