On an autumn Saturday, we headed to the German side again, to Nuremberg. The route followed the highway 204 km west of Plzen. The reason for our trip was not (again) the sights of Nuremberg, praised as beautiful, but the search for old objects.
If you remember from the previous blog post , we met an old gentleman at the antique market in Leipzig, from whom we bought a large amount of stuff. He invited us to visit his shop in Antikhandel Döllinger , Nuremberg. We called on Friday and confirmed the opening hours. The owner himself said he was on a sales trip again, but his son would be there and show us the place.
We got there on Saturday around noon. More precisely, Antikhandel Döllinger is located in the countryside about 40 minutes by car from the center. Fortunately, we didn't book other places for the day, because the store was huge. The outbuilding served as their warehouse or warehouse, where they renovated the products. The objects there were also for sale. The outbuilding was to our liking and it took over an hour to explore it. Upstairs was full of stuff and downstairs was furniture and their spare parts, such as pulls and label holders. We made a bunch of interesting outdoor products.
The second hour was spent on the side of the store, where there were cleaned and refurbished products for sale. There was also some new production involved, so you had to be careful. Another hour passed here. Finally, we gathered the interesting items in the store together with the items in the outbuilding. The entrepreneurs understood each other and we were able to make deals in a good spirit. We told you that we have an online vintage shop in Finland, in Helsinki, where we are looking for stuff.
Once again, we had to select only products from the rarest end. Skoda's trunk once again set the raw realities for logistics, which caused cursing in the group. We will definitely come here again, but with a van.
The most interesting products are drink baskets and 100-year-old wooden cigar molds from a Mannheim tobacco factory. I got inspiration from them for my own interior design and started thinking about whether they should be "eaten from the load". For now, however, the cigar molds can be found in the online store.
The city's antique shops were no longer open when we got to Nuremberg's old town. The city had been praised, and not for nothing. While eating in the old town, we started planning another trip here. Maybe we'll head to Nuremberg's famous Christmas market next.
