English paper clips, 1870

Great vintage paper clips with the year 1870. The brass clips have a nice horseshoe design to bring good luck.

The clips are made in Birmingham, England. The manufacturer is M. Meyers & Son, who also made the pen nibs.

The story goes that these would have been business gifts. Go and find out, but are still practical for holding paper bills, for example.
