Oy Tampella Ab was a Finnish listed company that started operations in 1856. It engaged in the metal, forestry and textile industries. Oy Tampella Ab ran into financial difficulties at the end of the 1980s and was taken over by the Bank of Finland in 1991. After that, the company was split up and sold in parts. Some of Tampella's factory buildings in Tampere have been demolished. New buildings have gone up in their place. The remaining buildings house the Pirkanmaa District Court and Vapriikki Museum Center.

The name Tampella came from the name Tampereen Pellava- ja Rauta-Teollisuus Osake-Yhtiö."
