An old Singer tin box, according to the report, from the 1950s. The paint surface of the green box has taken a dent over time, but otherwise the box is in a clean condition.
Singer started to mass produce sewing machines in the 1850s. In the middle of the decade, Singer introduced the first model intended for home use. At that time, the machine in question could be bought for a hundred dollars, which was a big investment. Singer introduced installment payment and that's how the machines started to sell. The customer got access to the sewing machine by paying a five-dollar upfront fee.
