Antique tennis racket, early 20th century

A rare antique Slazenger tennis racket from the beginning of the 20th century! A real masterpiece of the craftsmanship of that time. The wooden handle has a carved image of the devil and the text "The Demon" on the frame. The handle part has rounded grooves on both sides and the end is rounded into a "fishtail handle" that fits the hand. The varying shades of wood are wonderful.

The strings are intact and the racket is otherwise in really almost unused condition. A storage bag to protect the racket is included. A great prop and decor element for a sports-style interior.

Slazenger started making The Demon clubs in 1880 and the fishtail grip was made until the 1930s.
